Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash
A 10-year-old boy has been killed in a road accident which happened in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan on Wednesday night.

He was with another boy at a zebra crossing in Barry Road when the incident happened at around 1925 BST.

Police said the boy sustained fatal injuries in a collision with a white Ford Transit van.

Officers are appealing for a driver who saw the two boys at the crossing, or anyone else who witnessed the incident to contact them.

Witness appeal

Police said one boy had crossed the road, while the other waited and waved forward a vehicle so it could go past before him.

He then walked on to the crossing but was hit by the van that had been travelling behind the vehicle that he called forward.

Officers want to speak to the driver of the vehicle that was summoned across the crossing, and also a person who retrieved a pair of trainers from the scene and handed them to staff at a nearby Spar shop.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit at Cardiff Bay police station on 02920 222111.
