Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward
A driver who was involved in an accident with a car after escaping from her own crashed vehicle on the A55 in north Wales has died in hospital.

Lisa Jane Williams, 22, from Denbigh, was driving alone when her car crashed at Pantasaph, near Holywell.

She managed to get out of the car and back onto the road, but was involved in a collision with a red Rover car.

The woman was taken to Glan Clwyd Hospital and later transferred to Walton Hospital, Liverpool.

Police said her car, a grey N-registration Vauxhall Cavalier, left the A55 eastbound carriageway between the Caerwys junction and Pantasaph on Saturday.

The car ended up at the bottom of the embankment.

The road was closed for several hours while a rescue and recovery operation was carried out by the emergency services.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.

Anyone with any information was asked to contact North Wales Police on 0845 6071001/6071002.
