A man "surfing" on the top of a car through the centre of a south Wales town was captured on CCTV cameras.
Darren Moore, 22, climbed onto the roof of a friend's car and clung onto it for more than 300 yards as it drove along a road in Blackwood.
He was seen on police cameras smiling and waving at passers-by, Blackwood magistrates court was told.
Moore, of Pontllanfraith, admitted aiding and abetting dangerous driving and was fined £150 and banned from driving for a year.
Driver Carl Evans, 26, also of Pontllanfraith, received the same ban.
Magistrate Glyn Smith said: ""It was an extremely foolish and dangerous thing to do.
"You are very fortunate to be here today.
"I just hope you both realise the dire consequences of what could have been."
Defending Moore, Mark Davies said: "Here is a man who did something very silly while in drink. It is a matter that will never be repeated."
Evans pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving without insurance.
Natalie Quartermaine, defending, said: "What started out as a prank could have had dire consequences.
"Evans should have stopped the moment Darren Moore got onto his vehicle."
Both men were ordered to take a driving test when their ban expired.
