Witness appeal in Iraqi murder
Outside the Potter's Wheel, Kingsway, Swansea
The assault happened outside the Potter's Wheel pub, Kingsway
Police are appealing for witnesses to the murder of a 29-year-old Iraqi in Swansea in what they believe was a racially-motivated attack.

The man was assaulted early on Monday in Kingsway, in the city centre, and died later in hospital.

South Wales Police believe the assault, outside The Potter's Wheel pub, was carried out at about 0136 BST by a white man.

The victim is not being named until his next of kin have been informed.

Police said the attacker was accompanied by two other white men.

All are described as in their early 20s.

Det Chief Insp Layton Bennetta said: "This was an unprovoked attack which is being treated as a racist incident.

"In particular we'd like to speak with two males who we know were with the offender before and after the incident.

"We believe them both to have invaluable information that can help us with our investigation, and of course help us eliminate them from our enquiry.

"The public need to be reassured this is an isolated incident."

Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room at Cockett Police Station on 01792 456 999 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
