Three dead in 'suspicious' blaze
Troedyrhiw Farm in Abercregan
Fire fighters were called to the scene on Wednesday morning
Three people have been killed in a suspicious fire at a remote farmhouse in south Wales.

South Wales Police were continuing inquiries on Thursday into the blaze at Troedyrhiw Farm, Abercregan, in the Afan valley.

Early on Wednesday, one body was found at the farmhouse, and police later confirmed another two people had died.

A woman who escaped from the blaze and ran half a mile to the nearest village to get help has been treated in hospital.

South Wales Police Superintendent Bob McAlister confirmed the fire was being treated as suspicious.

"It is too early to say what the cause of the fire may be but that will be established," he added.

Partial collapse

Emergency crews said the property was well alight when they were called to the farm just before 0600 GMT.

John Jones, Mid and West Wales Fire Service Station Officer said the first crew on the scene saw flames in all the windows.

"Within minutes the roof was involved and partially collapsed."

Three fire engines and 20 firefighters were involved in tackling the blaze.

Officers are continuing to search the premises.

And specialist teams from South Wales Fire Service have been brought in to help with the investigation.

A dog trained to detect accelerants, such as petrol, has searched the property.

The woman who escaped the blaze is being treated at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.

Her condition has been described as stable.

The farmhouse has been severely damaged by fire and a joint investigation into the cause of the blaze is now under way in conjunction with the South Wales Police Force.
