Wales' big freeze has gone into a third day
Motorists, weekend workers, and shoppers are facing another day of bitterly cold weather in Wales as sub-zero temperatures and snow continued in some areas.

Three inches of snow in Pembrokeshire in the early hours of Saturday meant that 40 council workers worked throughout the night to keep the county's roads clear.

A council spokesman said that all roads in the county had been cleared on Saturday and Dyfed-Powys Police said that roads in the county were passable with care.

The Met Office has warned there will be little change in the thermometer readings for several days, with temperatures as low as -7C predicted until well into next week.

Sport continued to be hit by the cold weather.

Saturday's horse racing meeting at Chepstow was abandoned due to snow and ice.

And in football, Swansea City's Division Three game against Rochdale on Saturday called off as was Bangor City's clash with Port Talbot and Merthyr Tydfil's game against Welling.

In north Wales, there was a small covering of snow overnight in the Caernarfon area.

North Wales Police had advised motorists to avoid the Crimea Pass section of the A470 on Saturday morning due to snow.

On Friday, Sennybridge, near Brecon, recorded the coldest temperature in the UK at minus 9.3C and hundreds of schools remained closed.
