Timeline: Search for Jenna
Police search
A team of officers has been looking for Jenna
Police have said that they are as certain as they can be that they have found the body of missing south Wales teenager Jenna Baldwin.

The discovery has brought to an end the two-month hunt for the 15-year-old who disappeared from near her home.

10 September, 2002: Jenna Baldwin disappeared from her home in Abersychan, near Pontypool in south Wales.

Police said there had been sightings of a girl matching the teenager's description with an older man.

Detectives appealed to the 15-year-old to contact her family.

25 September: Jenna's mother, Desiree Baldwin, launched a poster campaign appealing for information.

Police also held a press conference and disclosed Jenna had been seen with a man and might have left with him.

Detective Chief Inspector John Oliver, the man leading the hunt for Jenna, said police now "feared the worst".

17 October: Desiree Baldwin made a public plea for Jenna to come home after the family received a series of silent phone calls.

18 October: Members of Jenna's family said they had received a series of text messages claiming to be from the missing teenager.

21 October: Police dismissed the earlier silent calls made to Jenna's family as a "cruel hoax".

24 October: Detectives made a direct appeal to Jenna via the media after her family received a new text message claiming to be from her.

29 October: Police arrested Mike Baldwin, 36, Jenna's stepfather, on suspicion of murder.

30 October: Police search teams began looking for Jenna's body in woodland and a quarry close to her home.

1 November: The search was hampered by rain and thick fog.

2 November: Mr Baldwin was charged with Jenna's murder.

4 November: Mr Baldwin was remanded in custody at Newport Magistrates Court.

Police issued a statement saying a body found in Pontypool Park was not Jenna.

18 November: Detectives close off the main road between Abergavenny and Blaenavon and search a wooded area known as Fiddler's Elbow - about eight miles from where the teenager disappeared.

19 November: Detectives discover human remains in the early hours of the morning after a 20-member search team scours the area for eight hours.

20 November: Jenna's body is formally identified after tests by a Home Office pathologist.

Gwent Police said they were as certain as they could be that the remains they have found are those of the missing teenager.

A piece of jewellery discovered with the body found in woodland has been identified as belonging to the 15-year-old.

December 6: Inquest hearing into Jenna's death is opened and adjourned.

December 9: Family and friends attend Jenna's funeral service
