A man who suffered serious injuries in a fire at a Dundee flat which killed a 71-year-old woman has died in hospital.

Tayside Police said 66-year-old Gilbert Harrison succumbed to the effects of smoke inhalation at the city's Ninewells Hospital on Tuesday night.

The body of pensioner Doreen Doig was found by fire crews at the flat in Laidon Terrace after the blaze broke out on Tuesday 7 July.

An investigation has found there were no suspicious circumstances.

A report into the deaths has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
