The accident happened close to the T in the Park festival

The mother of a teenager killed near the T in the Park music festival has paid tribute to her son.

Lachlan Gillies, 17, from Errol in Perthshire, was knocked down by a lorry at a service area in Kinross-shire on Friday.

His mother Judith said: "He was a great lad who lived a great life and I'm very sorry it was so short."

One report said the teenager was trying to buy a replacement for a lost festival ticket when he was killed.

The accident happened at about 1830 BST near the Moto services on the A977 near Kinross.

A trauma team was sent from Dundee and he was taken to the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline, but he later died.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them.
