Police arrest man over stand-off

A man has been arrested in connection with a stand-off with police in the Carron area of Falkirk.

Officers from Central Scotland Police were called to Burnside Place at about 0800 BST following reports a man had barricaded himself inside a house.

A cordon was set up in the street and nearby homes were evacuated.

Police confirmed that the incident was "safely concluded" at about 1430 BST. A 50-year-old man is due at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Falkirk Area Commander Supt Robbie McGregor said: "Our primary objective has been to ensure the safety of everyone from start."
