Council by-election taking place

A by-election is taking place to find a new member to represent the Monifieth and Sidlaw ward on Angus Council.

The poll was called following the death of councillor Frank Ellis from cancer in April.

The candidates are Craig Fotheringham from the Conservatives, Lib Dem Charles Goodall and the SNP's Jean Lee.

Voters should rank the candidates in order of preference on their ballot paper, rather than placing a cross in the box.

The polls are open from 0700 BST to 2200 BST.

The votes will be counted on Friday.
