Horse's tail cut and set on fire

Horse owners in Tayside have been warned to be on the alert after one of the animals had its tail cut off and was almost set on fire.

The eight-year-old was attacked in a field near the Crieff Hydro Hotel in Ferntower Road between 1900 BST on 29 May and 1000 BST the next morning.

About 2ft of its tail was stolen and singe marks were discovered on the remaining bit of hair.

Horse owners registered with the police have been sent a text message warning.
