A 13-year-old boy has suffered serious injuries after falling 60ft off a cliff-face while climbing with friends.

Forth and Montrose Coastguards and a helicopter were called to the accident, which happened at about 1530 BST on Saturday at St Cyrus near Montrose.

The boy, who is local to the area, was flown to Dundee's Ninewells Hospital.

Simon Smart, of Forth Coastguard, said cliffs were seen as a challenge by teenagers, but warned if it went wrong the outcome could be devastating.
