Vandals wreck bus company fleet

Vandals who smashed up a bus fleet causing thousands of pounds worth of damage have been described as "despicable" by the firm's owner.

Angus Morrison, who runs Morrisons Travel in Stirling, said six of his seven buses were attacked in their depot in Stirling at the weekend.

Each of the vehicles had its windows smashed and seats ripped. The vandals also tried to start a fire.

Police are looking for two youths in connection with the incident.

Mr Morrison said he was told about the damage to his fleet, based at the Back O' Hill Industrial Estate, by a driver who was returning from a shift.

He said: "When I got there I saw that the destruction was absolutely terrible. I was in deep shock.

"All our buses except one were parked together. If they had managed to start a fire, they all would have went up.

"They just smashed up things and ripped up everything they could.

"I just don't know why they would do it. They're despicable."

Mr Morrison, who has run the family business in Stirling for 11 years, said other bus firms in the area had helped him meet his timetable obligations while the coaches were repaired.

It is understood that police are now scrutinising CCTV footage of the vandalism, which took place on Sunday evening.

Mr Morrison added: "We had a glazier here until 10 o'clock last night trying to get the buses back on the road.

"We've had so much support from our customers and the other bus companies, I don't know what we would have done without them."

Anyone with information about those responsible for the vandalism is asked to contact Central Scotland Police.
