Man killed by train at crossing

An elderly male pedestrian has been killed by a train at a level crossing in Perthshire.

Emergency services were called to the incident, at Moulinearn near Pitlochry, by a member of the public just after midday.

The train involved was the 0918 Inverness to Glasgow service.

Train services on the line were halted and delays between Inverness and Perth were expected to last a number of hours.

In 2001, a 45-year-old man died after a train struck the car in which he was a passenger at the same level crossing.
