Teacher appeals attack conviction

A Dundee teacher who was found guilty of assaulting two pupils in the classroom is to appeal his conviction.

Mike Barile, 51, was convicted last week at Dundee Sheriff Court of grabbing a 15-year-old boy by his top and pinning another against a wall.

However, the Sheriff admonished him after acknowledging he had suffered "extreme abuse" by the pupils.

Mr Barile's lawyer has officially written to the court service requesting that an appeal be heard.
