Flash floods close major routes

Heavy rain has caused major disruption to roads across Forth Valley, local police have warned.

Central Scotland Police said torrential rain had caused many of the area's main routes to become flooded or blocked with stranded cars.

Motorists travelling in and out of Stirling and Falkirk were warned to take extra care.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency has also issued flood watches for rivers across the area.

Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service said they were dealing with numerous calls regarding flooding in the Falkirk, Denny and Larbert areas.

Police said the M80 northbound through Denny was reduced to one lane after a vehicle ended up on its side.
