Baby girl's death not suspicious

Perth Royal Infirmary
Rebecca Hutchison was pronounced dead at Perth Royal Infirmary

Police have confirmed there are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a nine-month-old baby in Perth.

Rebecca Hutchison died in the town's Royal Infirmary after falling ill at her home in Newhouse Road on Wednesday.

NHS Tayside are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

Rebecca's father, Billy Hutchison, told a newspaper that his daughter had visited five doctors in as many days in the run-up to her death.

Police examined the home of Rebecca and her mother as they investigated what happened.

Further medical tests are being carried out to find the exact cause of death.

Mr Hutchison told the Daily Record newspaper: "It's horrible when everyone thinks you've done something wrong when we were doing everything we could for Rebecca.

"But there are police everywhere and people are very suspicious these days."

A spokeswoman for NHS Tayside said: "We are looking into the circumstances surrounding this baby's death."
