Five-hour sex attack man jailed

A man who tied up a woman and then raped her in a five-hour ordeal has been jailed for eight years.

At the High Court in Glasgow, Peter McKinlay, 29, was convicted of raping the 25-year-old in a house in Grangemouth on 18 February.

The court heard that McKinlay bound his victim's arms and legs, tied her to a bed, then sexually assaulted her.

A two-year-old child was in a nearby room and afterwards McKinlay tried to hang himself in front of the pair.

Temporary judge John Morris QC also ordered McKinlay to be monitored in the community for two years after his release.
