Detectives are investigating the sudden and unexplained death of a nine-month-old baby in Perth.

The girl's 20-year-old mother called for help after the child became unwell at their flat in Newhouse Road at about 1930 GMT on Wednesday.

The baby was taken by ambulance to Perth Royal Infirmary but died at about 2115 GMT.

The home has been sealed off for police examinations and a post-mortem examination will take place.
