Vandals cut park high-wire cables

Police have said vandals who cut heavy cables used to support people at the high-wire activity centre Go Ape could have caused a fatal accident.

Staff at the Aberfoyle adventure park in rural Stirling found cables had been partially severed or cut completely.

Central Scotland Police said the damage was done sometime between 1830 BST on Friday and 0750 BST Saturday 6 September.

They have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Ch Insp Kevin Findlater, who is leading the investigation, said: "The consequences could have been serious or fatal if the damage had not been picked up during routine checks by the centre's staff.

"Whoever is doing this has no regard for the consequences. It could have been a child or an adult who was on the wires and would have been injured.

"We are treating this matter extremely seriously and we are working closely with the company and Forestry Commission."
