Man in court over throat cutting

A 22-year-old man has appeared in court after a woman had her throat cut at a park in Kirriemuir, Angus.

The 21-year-old woman was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after being injured on Wednesday evening near the bandstand at the Den.

Brian McKay, from Kirriemuir, faced charges of attempted murder and possession of a knife when he appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court.

He made no plea or declaration and was released on bail.
