Man drowns while on fishing trip

Mr Millar was fishing at the River Carron when he drowned

A 58-year-old fisherman has drowned after falling into the River Carron, near Falkirk.

Robert Millar, from Bonnybridge, fell into the river close to the Bogton Roundabout at Denny at about 2225 BST on Wednesday.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

It is understood his 41-year-old fishing companion raised the alarm and paramedics, police and firefighters came out to the incident.

He was pulled from the water and pronounced dead at the scene.
