Arrest after woman's throat cut

A 22-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman had her throat cut at a park in Angus.

The victim, 21, was injured at about 2000 BST on Wednesday near the bandstand at the Den in Kirriemuir.

She was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment and her condition is not considered life-threatening.

Police officers secured the area where the incident happened and carried out forensic examinations. They have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The man is expected to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court on Friday.
