Missing offender found in France

Joseph Millbank
Millbank is likely to be extradited back to Scotland

A paedophile who went missing from Scotland has been arrested in France, after his details were posted on a "most-wanted" website.

Police launched a hunt for Joseph Millbank after he went on the run from a hostel in Perth at the end of June.

The 47-year-old, sentenced to 10 years in 2002 for a catalogue of abuse against girls, now faces extradition.

He was one of the first Scots to appear on the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre site.

Millbank, who had served little more than half his sentence when he disappeared, was found in St Tropez.

Having earlier established he travelled to France, Tayside Police alerted Interpol, before he was traced by French authorities.

It is understood Millbank will now appear in a court in France, after which time prosecutors in Scotland will bring forward extradition proceedings.
