Pair charged after cat drowning

A man and a woman have been charged after a dead cat was found in a plastic bag in a canal in the Falkirk area.

The pet was discovered by a dog-walker in the Union Canal, near Vellore Road in Maddiston, on 8 July.

The bag had been weighed down with bricks and at the time animal welfare officers said it would have suffered a horrific death.

The man, aged 57, and woman, 52, have been reported to the procurator fiscal and are due in court in September.
