Driver killed in rain crash named

A driver who died following a crash in heavy rainfall on the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen road has been named by police.

Iain Alley, 54, of Banff, died after the accident at about 1420 BST on Sunday near the junction with the B966 leading to Brechin.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said the green Isuzu Rodeo appeared to have gone out of control and hit a tree.

Police appealed for any witnesses to contact them, and said a report had been sent to the procurator fiscal.
