Police appeal over missing woman

Elise Woods
Elise Woods said she was going to visit relatives in South Lanarkshire

Police have said they are extremely concerned for a missing woman who set off on a 50-mile journey to see relatives while dressed in her pyjamas.

Elise Woods, 45, from Doune, near Stirling, told friends she was going to Strathaven, in South Lanarkshire when last seen shortly after 0645 BST.

She is described as 5ft 6in tall, slim build with dark brown hair, which is highlighted on the left.

Central Scotland Police said anyone who has seen Ms Woods should contact them.

'On foot'

Dunblane Insp Brian Sharkey said: "This is out of character for Ms Woods to go missing and we are extremely concerned for her welfare.

"We believe she may be wearing her nightclothes with a cream-coloured Berghuas waterproof jacket.

"She left her friend's house stating she was going to walk to Strathaven to see relatives.

"Ms Woods is on foot and it may be that a passing motorist has offered her a lift out of the Doune area."

Insp Sharkey called for anyone who may have given her a lift to contact the force immediately.
