Two women killed in car collision

A car crash has left two women dead and two men seriously injured, police say.

The women, both passengers in separate cars, died when the vehicles collided on the A9 Perth to Inverness road, half a mile north of Faskally.

The crash, which happened on Wednesday afternoon, left both male drivers of the cars in a serious condition. They are in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

The road was closed for four hours while police accident investigators examined the scene.

Tayside Police said one woman died at the scene. The other was airlifted to Ninewells Hospital, where she died a short time later.

A force spokesman appealed for witnesses.

"It is believed that a large coach passed by the scene immediately after the collision and another three cars in the immediate area at the time continued on their journey prior to the police arriving," he said.

"Police are keen to speak to the drivers of these vehicles or any passengers on the coach."
