Tayside police HQ
The investigation into the cause of the child's death is continuing
An inquiry into the sudden death of a young child in Dundee has been launched by Tayside Police.

Officers were called to a flat in Balunie Crescent in the early hours of Sunday amid reports that a 23-month-old boy had died.

Police said the death is being treated as "unexplained" and enquiries are at an early stage.

Following a post-mortem examination, the force confirmed a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Officers said the circumstances surrounding the young child's death were being investigated.

Det Chief Insp Ewen West said: "Detailed examination will continue at the home address and we are liaising closely with the child's family."
