Problems for city's new air route
Dundee Airport
The flights from Dundee Airport are due to begin on 21 May
A new air service between Dundee and Belfast has run into problems before it has taken off.

BBC Scotland has learned that airline Loganair unveiled the service before commercial arrangements had been finalised with Belfast City Airport.

Tickets for the service, to be operated in partnership with Flybe, were due to go on sale on Monday with flights beginning on 21 May.

Loganair is waiting for confirmation of landing and take-off times.

The airline is not able to say when tickets will go on sale but is insisting the Dundee-Belfast service will begin as planned.

A statement from Loganair said: "We believed that all necessary arrangements were in place when we announced the two new routes from Dundee to Belfast and Birmingham last week.

"We are frustrated to still be waiting for final slot confirmation at Belfast City Airport.

"Had we known that it was not finalised, we would not have made the announcement."
