Search and rescue teams are continuing their efforts to find a missing Perthshire pensioner.

George Borthwick, 83, was last seen in the Pitlochry-Moulin area at about 0745 GMT on Sunday.

Tayside Police and members of RAF Leuchars are involved in the operation, which will focus around the edges of the Tummel and Tay rivers.

Mr Borthwick, who is a keen hill walker, is 6ft tall with silvery grey, balding hair.

He was last seen wearing a brown anorak, beige cargo trousers or green tracksuit bottoms and black shoes.

The initial search on Sunday also involved a helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth and a mountain rescue team from RAF Leeming, which had been on a training exercise.

The search was later suspended because of bad light, although Search and Rescue Dog Association dogs and handlers continued to comb open areas during the night.

Sgt John Watson said: "George is well known in Pitlochry where he has lived for many years.

"We would like anyone living in Pitlochry to think hard about where they have been since Sunday morning and whether they might have seen him.

"In addition I'd like to ask everyone in Pitlochry to make sure that their neighbours are aware that George is missing and that everyone check their gardens or outbuildings.

"Hopefully the local community can help us reach a successful outcome by checking their property and remaining vigilant."
