Violence row teacher keeps post
Sidlaw View
It was claimed Sidlaw View was plagued by violence
A teacher who was suspended after her husband made allegations about violence at her school has kept her job.

Linda Ross was working as depute head at Sidlaw View Primary in Dundee when concerns about pupils kicking, spitting and biting teachers were raised.

An independent review found many of the claims were exaggerated.

Mrs Ross is to be transferred to another school in the city. Her husband Vic Ross said they were both "very happy about the outcome".

Mrs Ross was suspended in September last year after her husband went to the press alleging widespread bad behaviour among pupils.

He claimed teachers were verbally and physically assaulted daily, known drug users were found within the school and staff faced with violence had not had proper training.

However an investigation into the claims found no evidence that Mrs Ross had formally raised her concerns with the headteacher or the education director.

Mr Ross said they were both "glad to draw a line under a very difficult period".

He added: "It's been a strain on everybody.

"I've no regrets about blowing the whistle, because I think it's brought to attention what is going on in our schools."

A spokesman for Dundee City Council declined to comment.
