Police are still trying to find those behind the factory
|
Tayside Police have raided their third cannabis factory in 11 days.
It is thought at least £100,000 worth of the drug was found at the building in Portree Avenue, Broughty Ferry, during the operation at about 1100 GMT.
No-one was in the property at the time, and inquiries are continuing to trace those who were growing the plants.
On 15 January a cannabis den was raided in Methven, near Perth, and on 23 January police confiscated the drug at a house in Liff, outside Dundee.
'Dangerous practice'
Det Sgt Adrian Robertson said: "This latest recovery is part of a wider operation to remove this criminal and extremely dangerous practice from the Tayside area.
"As we have stated before, cannabis cultivations are a catastrophe waiting to happen.
"They pose an inherent fire risk due to electrical supplies being interfered with and the presence of hoses running alongside electricity.
"We would appeal to the public to be vigilant and report any suspicions of houses that might possibly be being used for such activities."
Det Sgt Robertson added that tell-tale signs include permanently covered windows, soil being taken into the house, strong odours coming from the property. or the occupants or vehicles being seen at unusual times of the day or night.
