Firework damage to police office
It is believed the fireworks were of the type used in displays
A police office has been badly damaged after a man set off fireworks in the foyer area on Hogmanay.

A "quantity of fireworks", believed to be of the type used for displays, was set off in the waiting area of Alloa police office at about 2145 GMT.

Police said the explosives caused scorching to the walls, ceiling and seating. The area was filled with smoke for several minutes.

No-one was injured. A 42-year-old man was later detained.

He is expected to appear at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday.

A police spokesman said: "At 9.45pm, a man walked into the foyer of Alloa police office and set off a quantity of fireworks."

He added: "Fortunately no-one was in the foyer at the time so no-one was injured."
