The council is investigating claims of pupil attacks on teachers
A depute headteacher of a primary school has been suspended after allegations of pupil attacks on teachers appeared in a local newspaper.

Linda Ross was removed from duty at Sidlaw View after her husband made claims that pupils kicked, bit and spat at teachers.

Dundee City Council has declined to comment on the suspension.

It has launched an investigation into the allegations, and said initial inquiries indicated some were untrue.

'Not substantiated'

A council spokesman said: "The council is undertaking a thorough and professional investigation into all the allegations that have been made.

"As part of that investigation, staff and others will be involved.

"However, we would again state that initial investigations have indicated that a number of the allegations are untrue and not substantiated."

The spokesman added that staff could report directly to the council any concerns they may have and it said complaints were always investigated.

"There are a number of routes open to people to raise issues and this can be done anonymously," he said.

"The education department would like to reiterate that Sidlaw View is undertaking excellent work in an area of the city that suffers from a number of complex problems.

"The commitment and dedication of staff is reflected in increased levels of attainment in reading, writing and maths."
