A teenage girl been sexually assaulted in woods in Hallglen near Falkirk.

The 16-year-old was left badly shaken after she was attacked near the local shop in Garry Place between 1430 and 1600 BST on Friday 10 August.

Police have described it as an isolated incident, and a team of detectives are going door to door to try and find the suspect.

He was in his late 30s with a local accent, and had a shaved head, stubble and bad teeth, with some missing.

The man was about 5ft 7ins, of medium build, and was wearing faded blue jeans, a dark T-shirt and a grey or black Regata-style jacket.

Detective Inspector Wilson Gill from Falkirk CID made an appeal for witnesses.

He said: "The girl was left badly shaken and we are keen to speak to anybody who may have seen anything or who may have information regarding this assault.

"A team of detectives have been dedicated to this inquiry. We are also carrying out door-to-door inquiries and the mobile police office is in the area.

"I would like to stress that this is an isolated incident."
