Record sell out for T in the Park
T in the Park crowd

Tickets for T in the Park 2008 have sold out within a record 65 minutes, less than 48 hours after this year's festival ended.

The 40,000 tickets for Scotland's biggest music festival went on sale at 0900 BST and were gone by 1005 BST.

The "early bird" tickets for the festival, which takes place at Balado near Kinross next July, were offered at the same price as this year's event.

Last year, 35,000 tickets were snapped up in just 70 minutes.

This year's event drew criticism from fans who were turned away on the first day because of water-logged car parks.

The car parks were closed on Friday evening leading to thousands of people being turned away after queuing for hours.

T in the Park 2008 will run from 11 to 13 July. The line-up has not been announced.
