The brothers were said to be surprised to learn of the production

A new musical based on the music of the Proclaimers will premiere in Dundee in Spring 2007, it has been confirmed.
Sunshine on Leith tells the story of two men who leave the army and return to their families in Edinburgh.
The tale features Fife-born Craig and Charlie Reid's best known hits, including Letter from America.
The opening of the musical, at Dundee Rep Theatre, will also coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first Proclaimers album, This is the Story.
The production, written by Stephen Greenhorn, will be performed by members of Dundee Rep's ensemble - and a nine-piece band - when it opens in April next year.

The Proclaimers' songs are rooted in Scottish experiences

The style of Sunshine on Leith is similar to the hit musical Mama Mia, which featured the songs of Abba but did not base the storyline on the band itself.
The Reid brothers were said to be "surprised and very happy" on learning of the production.
Director James Brining said: "The Proclaimers' songs are rooted in Scottish experiences and seem to belong to the people of Scotland.
"We have to do them justice and put them in a context they deserve that engages the audience."
Following its Dundee run, Sunshine on Leith will move onto Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow later in the year.
