Police have claimed early success in a drive to cut long-standing anti-social behaviour problems in a Clackmannanshire village.

A dispersal order has now come into force in Sauchie to tackle serious problems, many caused by teenagers.

On the first night of the order, police arrested a 14-year-old boy and reported him to the Children's Reporter.

Central Scotland Police said the move aimed to give residents a break from the rowdy behaviour.

'Unruly behaviour'

Police said they would use the order to move groups of more than two people away from the area, with anyone flouting it risking arrest.

The dispersal powers have been focused on the Wagon Road area, the location of many of the problems, which include vandalism, fighting and drinking.

Central Scotland Police's Clackmannanshire area commander, Gavin Buist, said: "Our hope is that by implementing this dispersal area in Sauchie, residents will get some respite from unruly behaviour which has been having an adverse impact on the quality of life for members of the public."

The dispersal order will run for three months.
