A 15-year-old boy who died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver near Falkirk has been named by police.

Neil Forrester, from Larbert, was knocked down by a driver who failed to stop in Stenhousemuir on Sunday night.

A Central Scotland Police spokesman said officers wanted to trace the driver of a green Toyota Corolla who left the scene of the accident.

The accident happened on Stenhouse Road, about 200 yards west of Lodge Drive at about 2025 BST.

The boy was taken to Stirling Royal Infirmary, where he later died from serious injuries.

The road was closed for seven hours while police investigators attended the scene.

The car was later found abandoned in Bainsford, Falkirk.
