New space to boost creative media
Seabraes
The building will provide space for about 300 staff
Details of a major new development to boost Dundee's growing creative media sector have been unveiled.

A deal has been struck for the first new building at the city's Seabraes Yards site, which aims to become a major business park for the industry.

The wide-ranging sector, which includes computer games and animation, employs more than 2,000 people in Dundee.

Scottish Enterprise Tayside is developing Seabraes along with the EU and private sector organisations.

Work is due to start this month on the building, which will provide space for about 300 staff.

Scottish Enterprise will market the space to companies.

'High-quality accommodation'

Nick Day, of Scottish Enterprise Tayside, said: "This is a significant deal in one of Tayside's most high-profile and important investment projects.

"The building will house a number of creative industry companies by attracting new talent and further investment to the area as well as supporting indigenous companies."

The deal was struck with Tayside Developments Ltd, part of the Foxdown Properties group.

Foxdown director Rod Brown said the new 28,000 sq ft building was due for completion in Spring 2007.

"We anticipate several companies, some of them local, will take advantage of the high quality accommodation which will be provided within the building," he said.

The 20-acre Seabraes Yards site, formerly known as Dundee Digital Media Park, aims to inject £50m into the area over the next 10 years.
