Youth charged with Dundee murder

A teenager has been charged with murder in connection with death of a man in Dundee at the weekend.

Wayne Melvin, 17, from Dundee, was charged when he appeared on petition in private at the city's sheriff court.

Robert Smith, 51, was discovered lying on the pavement near Dundee city centre shortly after midnight on Sunday.

Mr Melvin, of Ballindean Place, made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination. He was remanded in custody.
