Dario Franchitti said he still enjoys driving around Scotland
Scottish racing driver Dario Franchitti is helping to promote Dumfries and Galloway by encouraging tourists to explore the area by car.
The American-based IndyCar champion has launched a series of "Great Scottish Drives" with VisitScotland.
One tour aims to showcase the region and suggests visiting places such as Galloway Forest Park, Newton Stewart and Gretna Green.
The driving itinerary is being promoted in the US and Canada.
Two other routes, covering the west coast and north, and Inverness to Edinburgh, are also being promoted by Mr Franchitti.
The racing driver was born in Bathgate, West Lothian, and now lives in Tennessee with his wife, American actress Ashley Judd.
He said he still enjoyed coming back to Scotland and driving around the country.
"Scotland is my home and these are some of the roads I grew up on," he said.
"So it's an honour for me to share the breathtaking views, the off-the-beaten path sites, and some of the rich history of my great country."
Sandi Hellowell, regional director for VisitScotland, said the organisation was impressed by Mr Franchitti's enthusiasm for the the project.
"We sell Dumfries & Galloway to the world and we are sure that our international visitors will enjoy the recommendations we have put together," she added.
