Thousands of council workers in Dumfries and Galloway have received back-pay worth several million pounds.
It is part of a "single status" deal designed to address historic pay inequalities at the authority.
The agreement was backdated to April last year and about two thirds of council staff saw their wages rise.
The remainder of the authority's 6,500 employees did not receive back-pay as they have seen their salaries frozen or they will be cut in two years' time.
Thousands of workers received a pay rise last month as part of the deal.
This week they picked up the back-pay element of the agreement.
Council staff voted to accept the deal last year.
However, a large number of employees have appealed against their new pay levels.
Unions have also expressed concern about "discrepancies" over terms and conditions.
