Borders village wind farm proposal lodged

The company wants to build 23 turbines near the village of Oxton

An application for a wind farm near a village in the Borders has been lodged with the Scottish government.

RWE Npower Renewables wants to build 23 turbines at Rowantree Wind Farm near the village of Oxton.

Due to the size of the development the firm has applied to Scottish ministers for consent to construct and run the wind farm.

The development would have a capacity of 69MW and could supply about 42,000 homes.

The site lies within one of Scottish Borders Council's preferred areas for wind farm projects.
