Galashiels flood protection scheme planned

A £695,000 improvement package for flood defences in a Borders town looks has moved closer.

The scheme to upgrade protection in the Netherdale area of Galashiels was backed by the executive committee of Scottish Borders Council.

Some flood defences were put in place 20 years ago but the latest works would upgrade other areas.

Councillors have approved the appointment of consultants to pave the way for the improvement plans.
