Meetings held for flood victims

Victims of the recent flooding are invited to meetings to discuss their experiences

Dumfries and Galloway council has asked people affected by the recent flooding to attend two special meetings.

The aim is to have an open discussion about how the situation was dealt with and how similar events could be tackled in the future.

Among those attending will be Paul Hendy of the Scottish Flood Forum, which specialises in flood recovery.

It deals with issues such as drying out properties and insurance. The meetings will be held at Dumfries Ice Bowl.

There will be two meetings on Monday evening, the first for businesses which have been affected and the second for residents who were hit by the floods.

Each meeting will feature an open forum where people will have the chance to log specific issues with the Dumfries and Galloway Flood Recovery Team, which will direct the way forward.

Dumfries and Galloway Council said similar meetings may be held in other parts of the region which have been affected by the flooding.
