The final part of the inquiry is expected to last until later in the week

A public inquiry into plans to build 23 wind turbines in the Galloway hills is set to resume after an 18 month break. The hearing into Scottish and Southern Energy's plans at Blackcraig was suspended in April 2008 to assess potential impact on radar systems. Dumfries and Galloway MP Russell Brown has described the delay in completing the inquiry as "frustrating". The final part of the hearing is being held at Dalry Town Hall and is expected to last until Thursday. The process was originally halted to allow National Air Traffic Services to give evidence of the effect on radar technology. It was expected to require only six months but has now taken three times as long. Opponents have claimed the location and scale of the project would damage both the landscape and tourism. However, supporters have said the scheme could be part of a strategy to support the wider regeneration of the whole Glenkens area.
