Ambulance journey ends in arrest

An arrest has been made after police were called out to assist ambulance staff taking a man to a hospital in the Scottish Borders.

The incident happened at about 1540 BST on Monday en route between Peebles and the Borders General Hospital.

A man was reported as having become violent in the back of the ambulance.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested and is expected to appear at Selkirk Sheriff Court charged with offences under the Emergency Workers Act.
